About Me

I’m Danielle, a DONA-trained birth doula and CBI-trained childbirth educator in the East Bay area and mother of three. I am also trained in Spinning Babies (2016) and currently serve as Board President of the Birthland Wellness Fund, a nonprofit effort to bring a BIPOC owned and operated freestanding birth center to Oakland. I found doula work in 2016 while I was in law school (yes, I am also a lawyer) writing an academic paper on historical and present day barriers for midwives and pregnant women of color. That experience sparked in me a passion for supporting expecting parents and for birth justice. I found childbirth education in early 2020 when trying to find more ways to support families while also holding down a job as a lawyer. In 2023, I left my job at a law firm to move into legal recruiting, where I help lawyers find new jobs and navigate their careers. I listen to them and hold space and provide my expertise. So my day job is basically being a doula for lawyers, and I’m also a lawyer, and also a doula–a lawyer doula any which way you slice it!

I find that when parents are supported emotionally, informationally, and physically, they not only have better outcomes, but also feel more confident and content in their birth and parenting journeys. I believe all expecting parents deserve support through their journey to parenthood, and the tools to make informed, autonomous, and empowering choices on that journey.

Always is something never ending, much like love and parenthood. Parenthood is a journey filled with it’s ups and downs, but at its heart, it is unconditional love and an unbreakable, forever connection to our little ones. Birth—for many, the start of our parenthood journey—is an experience we hold with us always. My hope as a birth worker is to help you start on this journey with the best possible mindset and preparation, so that you can enjoy to the fullest your new always.
